Did you know we almost hunted deer to extinction around 1900? It probably wouldn’t surprise you to know that their population has rebounded to nearly historic levels! Deer can be destructive to landscapes and gardens. In this presentation, a number of strategies are presented, from fencing to repellants to plant and landscape choices. Deer-O-Scaping was coined by Rhonda Hart, the author of Deer Proofing Your Yard and Garden, an excellent book that provides effective, environmentally responsible deer control techniques. Her book is one of the sources of information referenced in the presentation from our February 27 UI Extension class on this topic.
