Organic Certification: Is it worth it for your products?

Organic certification may be worth it for your products if it helps you gain access to new customers and markets. Gwen Ayres, the organic program manager for the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, recently spoke at the Sandpoint Organic Ag Center on the process of organic certification. Her excellent presentation (see below) gives a brief history of the program, and described the process of becoming certified in detail, including the rules and cost-share program. A panel discussion with local organic producers followed Gwen’s presentation, followed by a lively question-and-answer session.
